Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian oil refineries are increasingly hitting Russia’s fuel industry. Gasoline production has declined significantly, and fuel problems are already affecting regions thousands of kilometers from Ukraine.
Reuters reports this.
According to industry analysts, Russian refineries are currently producing about 90,000 tons of gasoline per day. This is about a quarter less than the average in June last year. Also, in the first half of June, seaborne fuel exports decreased by 15%. The reason was forced repairs to plants after strikes by Ukrainian drones.
As the agency notes, the fuel crisis has already spread far beyond the occupied Crimea. Gasoline and diesel shortages are being recorded in the central and eastern regions of Russia, in particular in the Omsk and Novosibirsk regions.
In Omsk region, authorities have already limited the sale of gasoline to 40 liters per car and diesel to 80-200 liters. Similar limits are also being introduced in neighboring Novosibirsk region.
Against this backdrop, the Russian authorities have already banned the export of gasoline and jet fuel. In addition, the Kremlin is considering importing petroleum products by sea and subsidizing retail prices.
Earlier, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on the results of strikes by the Ukrainian Defense Forces on military facilities of the Russian aggressor on June 18 and on the night of June 19, 2026. Among the targets hit were railway bridges in the temporarily occupied Crimea, military infrastructure, and the Moscow Oil Refinery.
As reported, the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck two fuel facilities in the Rostov region of the Russian Federation on the night of June 18. After the attack, fires broke out at the oil depot and the fuel and lubricants depot.
