Gazmanov, Baskov and Shaman: YouTube blocked a new batch of Russian channels

YouTube has blocked or completely removed 39 more channels in Ukraine that were spreading Russian propaganda.

This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

According to the Center, among the blocked or deleted resources are the channels of Russian performers Oleg Gazmanov, Nikolai Baskov, Lolita Milyavskaya, Dima Bilan, Basta, Mikhail Boyarsky, Shaman, Denis Maidanov, and others.

The CPD noted that these are artists who support Russia’s war against Ukraine and the Kremlin’s policies.

Channels of the Russian animated series “Masha and the Bear” in various languages were also restricted.

This is not the first wave of such blockings. Back on August 24, YouTube blocked three “Masha and the Bear” channels in Ukraine – Russian-language, Ukrainian-language, and English-language. The Central Digital Platform emphasized at the time that all of them were included in the NSDC sanctions decision.

In early September, the YouTube channels of Philip Kirkorov, Grigory Leps, Sergey Lazarev, and Valeria also became unavailable in Ukraine.

The Center for Countering Disinformation previously explained that restricting such resources has not only an informational but also a financial effect, as it deprives Russian propaganda projects of part of the audience and revenue from viewings.

Recall that earlier “Pryamiy” wrote about a new package of Ukrainian sanctions against Russian companies that operate in the occupied territories and provide Russian infrastructure.

Zelensky also imposed sanctions against Russian propagandists and media organizations .
