General Staff report: 195 clashes have occurred at the front since the beginning of the day

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine published operational information as of 10:00 p.m. on May 17, 2026 regarding the Russian invasion.

In total , 195 combat clashes have taken place since the beginning of this day. The enemy carried out 76 air strikes, dropped 201 guided bombs. In addition, it engaged 4,851 kamikaze drones for destruction and carried out 1,994 shelling of settlements and positions of our troops.

Four clashes took place in the North Slobozhansk and Kursk directions, the enemy launched two air strikes, used three guided bombs, and carried out 71 shelling of settlements and positions of our troops, five of which involved the use of multiple launch rocket systems.

In the South Slobozhansky direction, the enemy stormed the positions of our units eight times in the areas of the settlements of Vovchanski Khutory, Dvorichanske, Starytsia, Veterinarne and in the direction of Ternova, Okhrimivka, and Kolodyazne. One clash is ongoing.

In the Kupyansk direction, our defenders stopped one enemy assault in the direction of Petropavlivka.

In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian soldiers repelled seven attempts by the invaders to advance towards the settlements of Lyman, Yampil, Drobysheve, and Zarichne.

In the Slavyansk direction, the Defense Forces successfully repelled one attempt by the invaders to advance towards Rai-Oleksandrivka.

The enemy did not conduct offensive operations in the Kramatorsk direction.

The defense forces successfully repelled 16 enemy assaults in the Kostyantynivka direction near Kostyantynivka, Ivanopillya, Illinivka, Rusyn Yar, Toretsky, Shakhove, Sofiivka, and in the direction of Vilne. Another clash is still ongoing.

In the Pokrovsky direction, the enemy carried out 20 attacks. The occupiers tried to advance in the areas of the settlements of Rodynske, Novooleksandrivka, Hryshyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Sukhetske and towards Myrne and Sergiyevka. Three clashes are still ongoing.

According to preliminary estimates, today in this direction 58 occupiers were eliminated and 16 wounded; four units of automotive equipment, two enemy infantry shelters were destroyed; three units of automotive equipment, one UAV control point, one gun and 98 enemy personnel shelters were damaged. 170 unmanned aerial vehicles of various types were destroyed or suppressed.

No enemy offensive actions were recorded in the Oleksandrivka direction.

In the Hulyaipil direction, the Defense Forces successfully repelled 19 enemy attacks in the areas of the settlements of Zlagoda, Varvarivka, Dobropillya, Olenokostyantynivka and towards Novy Zaporizhzhia, Vozdvizhivka, Staroukrainka, Zaliznychny, Hulyaipilskyi and Charivny.

In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy conducted two offensive operations in the areas of Bilogirye and Stepnohirsk.

In the Dnieper direction, the enemy attacked three times in the direction of Antonivka and was repulsed.

There were no significant changes in the situation in other areas.
