On Tuesday, December 9, geomagnetic activity increased significantly: the magnetic storm reached the red level with a K-index of 6.7.

This is evidenced by data from the meteoagent portal and the British Geological Survey.

The storm’s intensification was caused by a solar coronal mass ejection associated with an M-class flare. It is expected to reach Earth early in the day. A high probability of periods of STORM G3 intensity is predicted, which could affect people’s well-being and the operation of electronic devices.

How to reduce the impact of magnetic storms

Drink more fluids, especially herbal and green tea, and avoid coffee and alcohol.

Prefer light food: vegetables, herbs, and seasonal products.

Move more and spend time outdoors.

Normalize your sleep and daily routine.

Try to be less nervous and avoid stressful situations.

What are magnetic storms and why are they dangerous?

Magnetic storms are fluctuations in the Earth’s geomagnetic field caused by solar activity, including solar flares and coronal mass ejections (CMEs). When charged particles reach Earth, they interact with the magnetosphere, causing severe disturbances.

Dangers of magnetic storms:

Disruption of electronics and communication systems.

Power grid and satellite failures.

Increased likelihood of cardiovascular and neurological problems in susceptible people.

Changes in atmospheric pressure, which can cause headaches, fatigue, and irritability.

Magnetic storms are especially dangerous for people with chronic heart and vascular diseases, so during periods of increased activity it is recommended to limit physical and emotional stress.
