Ukraine was affected by a powerful magnetic storm, which suddenly intensified to 5 points on June 30. Experts note that such a geomagnetic phenomenon can affect the well-being of weather-dependent people.
This is reported by the Meteoagent service.
According to monitoring data, magnetic activity has remained relatively weak for the past few days, but the indicators have increased sharply the day before. The storm level is currently estimated at 5 points.
The geomagnetic storm is expected to weaken slightly the next day and drop to magnitude 4. This level of activity may persist on July 2.
At the same time, activity on the Sun continues. According to Meteoprog, 11 class C flares have been recorded over the past 24 hours. The probability of new class M solar flares is also reported to be about 50%. The probability of more powerful class X flares is estimated at 10%.
There are currently 86 sunspots observed on the Sun, which may be a source of new activity.
“A magnetic storm of such strength could cause minor disruptions in power systems, as well as affect the migration routes of birds and animals. It could also affect the health of weather-dependent people and the elderly,” experts note.
During magnetic storms, some people may experience a deterioration in well-being. Possible symptoms include headache, weakness, drowsiness, dizziness, increased blood pressure, discomfort in the heart, and exacerbation of chronic diseases.
To reduce the impact of adverse factors, experts advise sticking to your usual daily routine, spending more time outdoors, drinking enough water, avoiding excessive physical exertion, and limiting the consumption of alcohol, coffee, and heavy meals.
