Gerashchenko revealed details of the meeting of deputies with the Director General of the European Commission Directorate for Enlargement
The People’s Deputies of Ukraine met with the Director General of the European Commission’s Directorate for Enlargement and Eastern Partnership, Geert Jan Koopman, who is in Kyiv.
As reported on social media by the co-chair of the European Solidarity faction, Iryna Gerashchenko, the meeting discussed security, European integration, and corruption. Gerashchenko thanked the EU for its consistent support for Ukraine.
“The latest report of the European Commission contains serious criticism of attempts to limit the independence of anti-corruption bodies, corruption, extrajudicial sanctions against the opposition leader, and a ban on opposition deputies from inter-parliamentary activities. Unfortunately, after the report was published, the Ukrainian authorities did not demonstrate any reaction to these critical signals. Neither regarding the cancellation of the marathon, extrajudicial sanctions, or the reboot of the State Bureau of Investigation,” Gerashchenko stated.
She noted: the European Solidarity faction proposes restoring the subjectivity of the parliament, uniting pro-Ukrainian forces around supporting the army and European integration, and creating a government of national salvation.
“Ukraine is waiting for the opening of negotiation clusters. To do this, it is necessary not only to overcome Hungary’s veto. Kyiv must immediately do a lot of homework and return to the democratic development of the country,” the MP is convinced.
