Russian Gerber-type drones, which previously performed mainly reconnaissance functions or were used as false targets, are now increasingly flying into the territory of Ukraine with combat loads.
This was reported by the State Border Service of Ukraine.
It is noted that the enemy has changed the tactics of using these drones, turning them into a real threat to the Ukrainian military and civilians.
“Previously, such drones were mostly used by the enemy for reconnaissance or as a false target, but now they are more often flying into the territory of Ukraine with a combat unit,” the border guards emphasize.
The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine urges citizens not to approach drones if they are detected, and to immediately notify the relevant services by calling 101 or 112.
The border guards also demonstrated one of the drones, which was landed almost unharmed by fighters from the “Steel Border” brigade, which is actively fighting enemy drones.

The change in the nature of the use of the “Gerber” indicates the adaptation of Russian forces to the conditions of the front and an attempt to expand the range of strike weapons. Ukrainian defenders continue to improve methods of countering threats from the air.
Recall that Russian Shahed drones began to perform complex maneuvers in flight to avoid being hit by Ukrainian interceptor drones.
In addition, Russian forces may soon begin using upgraded Shaheds, which are capable of real-time control . Instead of a pre-set flight path, there is manual control and coordination between multiple aircraft in the air.
As reported, in June, Ukraine first recorded the use of a Russian kamikaze attack drone of the “Shahed” type with a built-in camera, an artificial intelligence module with machine vision, and a direct radio control system from Russian territory.
