The Chief Coordinator of German Military Assistance to Ukraine and Chief of Staff for Planning of the German Ministry of Defense, Major General Christian Freuding, said that the next meeting of the Contact Group on Defense Issues in Ukraine, better known as the Ramstein format, will be held within the next ten days.
Freuding clarified that the meeting will be held in a virtual format , as decided by the defense ministers of the participating countries. This will allow for rapid coordination of the efforts of the partner states against the backdrop of the constantly changing military situation in Ukraine.
The meeting will traditionally be co-chaired by the UK and Germany, who have co-moderated previous Ramstein sessions on several occasions. The meeting will be coordinated from the German side, likely from Berlin or Bonn.
The meeting is expected to discuss further supplies of weapons, ammunition, air defense systems, as well as strengthening Ukraine’s defense potential in the long term. Particular attention will be paid to the effectiveness of the assistance already provided and the planning of subsequent support packages.
The Contact Group on Defense Issues for Ukraine brings together over 50 countries, including NATO members, EU countries, and other international partners. Its regular meetings are a key platform for coordinating international military assistance to Ukraine in confronting full-scale Russian aggression.
We would like to remind you that on June 4, the 28th meeting of the Contact Group on Defense Issues of Ukraine in the “Ramstein” format was held in Brussels , which brought Ukraine record amounts of military assistance and became another confirmation of unwavering support from international partners.
