Germany expects talks on war in Ukraine: Wadeful statement

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadeful said that in the future Europe can restore good relations with Russia. At the same time, according to him, European security must now be built without the participation of Russia and taking into account its aggression against Ukraine.

Vadful said this on September 29 in Strasbourg, answering questions from deputies of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Deutsche Welle reports.

“We have no complaints against Russia itself or the Russian people. We have a serious problem with the current Russian regime, which has unleashed and is waging this illegal war of aggression,” the German Foreign Minister said.

According to him, in the near future, European security should be built “not with Russia, but against Russia.” At the same time, Europe needs to determine now what its future relations with Russia will be.

Vaddeful also said that talks to end Russia’s war against Ukraine could begin “soon.” He called on European countries to participate in the process.

“We cannot allow the US to maintain a monopoly on negotiations,” the minister stressed. According to him, Europe must be at the negotiating table, since the war is ongoing on European territory.

At the same time, Vadeful emphasized that any agreements to end the war must first be approved by Ukraine.

As a reminder, the US wants to bring together representatives of Ukraine and Russia at the same table in October to agree on stopping attacks on energy facilities. The American side should also join the negotiations, and the meeting could be held in Abu Dhabi.

By the way, the Kremlin stated that they currently see no prerequisites for moving to negotiations on ending the war against Ukraine . At the same time, the Russian side claims that it remains open to dialogue and once again invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to come to Moscow.
