Germany negotiates with the US on the production of missiles for Patriot

Germany is in talks with the United States to obtain permission to manufacture PAC-3 interceptor missiles for Patriot systems in Europe. Berlin is already reporting initial progress on this issue.

This was announced by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, the Financial Times reports .

He said he discussed the possibility of producing the PAC-3 outside the United States with U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth during a meeting in Washington last week.

Germany has offered to set up production lines in Germany and other European countries to help the US increase missile production amid high demand for Patriot and other American weapons systems.

During the meeting, Pistorius and Hegset also signed a statement of intent on joint production of American weapons in Europe. According to the German minister, PAC-3 missiles generally fall under this agreement, but the parties still need to agree on a number of issues.

In particular, it concerns intellectual property rights. Final approval must also be given by the Pentagon, the White House and the manufacturing company. Pistorius expects that the parties will be able to come to an agreement.

At the same time, Germany wants to obtain permission from the United States to license the production of long-range Tomahawk missiles on its territory. Berlin has already agreed with Washington to purchase these missiles, but due to high demand for them, there is a long queue.

It was previously reported that Poland is preparing a new package of military aid to Ukraine worth a total of 50 million euros. Part of the funds will be directed to air defense equipment.

In addition,the Finnish government will provide Ukraine with the 34th military aid package worth a total of about 290 million euros. In terms of funding, it is the second largest package from Helsinki.
