Germany does not yet intend to recognize a Palestinian state in the short term.

The Guardian reports this, citing an anonymous representative of the German government.

According to him, Berlin is closely monitoring the reaction of other European states to the statement by French President Emmanuel Macron, who announced the day before his intention to officially recognize Palestine.

“Germany has no concrete plans for such a step yet,” the speaker emphasized. He also noted that the main priority now is to create conditions for the implementation of a two-state solution, that is, the peaceful coexistence of Israel and Palestine.

At the same time, a representative of the German government stated that Germany is ready to “increase political pressure” if progress in this direction is not achieved.

Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron announced his intention to officially recognize the Palestinian state.
