German Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil announced that Berlin is not only maintaining but also increasing military aid to Ukraine, with nearly 9 billion euros allocated this year to support Ukraine’s defense against Russian aggression.

This is stated by Ukrinform.

“We plan to confirm funding for Ukraine. The amount will increase from 8.3 billion euros to 8.5 billion euros, and with additional packages, it will total almost 9 billion,” said Klingbeil.

This is the largest amount of support Germany has ever provided to Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale war.

The allocated funds will cover:

  • new weapons supplies (air defense systems, artillery, drones),

  • training of Ukrainian military personnel,

  • repair and maintenance of already delivered equipment,

  • development of joint cybersecurity efforts.

Moreover, Berlin emphasized that assistance to Ukraine is not an isolated measure but part of a comprehensive rethinking of Germany’s security policy in response to emerging threats.

The minister also reported that the German government is investing in:

  • protection against espionage and sabotage,
  • countering drone threats,
  • cybersecurity is a core component of national defense.

Recall that the Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany, Oleksiy Makeyev, reported that Berlin transferred 7 IRIS-T air defense systems to Kyiv.

By the way, the first Ukrainian long-range missiles, purchased with German funds, will enter service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine by the end of July.
