Germany will finance 50 thousand FPV drones for Ukraine

Germany will finance the purchase of 50,000 Ukrainian-made Shrike FPV attack drones for the Ukrainian Defense Forces. The contract is worth about 90 million euros, and deliveries are planned to be completed by the end of the year.

According to the agency, Germany is financing the purchase of 50,000 Shrike attack drones, manufactured by the Ukrainian company SkyFall. The drones will be equipped with American software from Auterion, which allows them to autonomously pursue and engage moving targets.

Auterion CEO Lorenz Mayer confirmed that the contract value is around 90 million euros.

“Some of the drones have already been transferred to the Ukrainian government, and the rest are planned to be sent by the end of the year,” Mayer said.

According to journalists, this contract is one of the largest known cases of drone purchases for Ukraine by a foreign government. Shrike FPV drones have been used on the front line since 2023.

Mayer also announced that in 2026, Ukraine plans to supply 100,000 drones in partnership with various manufacturers at the expense of Western partners. According to him, 33,000 drones have already been transferred under a contract with the United States, and the United Kingdom previously announced the transfer of another 150,000 drones.

It was previously reported that Germany is preparing to begin mass production of Gereon unmanned ground systems for Ukraine . The Ukrainian military may receive the first robotic platforms by the end of this summer.
