Germany will pay Ukraine nine billion euros annually: what is known about Berlin’s initiative

On Monday, August 25, German Finance Minister and Vice Chancellor Lars Klingbeil said that Berlin is committed to paying Ukraine 9 billion euros each year in the coming years.

He said this during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Interfax-Ukraine reports .

“As Minister of Finance, I emphasized, and this was also agreed by the Federal Government, that we are committed to supporting Ukraine in the coming years, spending 9 billion euros annually,” the German official assured.

At the same time, as noted, he discussed options for continuing support with the head of the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, Serhiy Marchenko.

As it became known, Klingbeil reported that Berlin is not only maintaining, but also increasing funding for military aid to Ukraine. This year, the budget has already allocated almost 9 billion euros to support Ukrainian defense against Russian aggression.

By the way, Germany’s defense project for 2025 lacks almost a billion euros , which were allocated for aid to Ukraine.

As a reminder, Germany recently announced the allocation of $500 million for a NATO initiative to supply Ukraine with critically important American-made weapons.
