Germany will reduce the amount of cash assistance for Ukrainian refugees who arrived in the country after April 1, 2025.

This is reported by the BILD publication.

In particular, such Ukrainians will be deprived of special refugee status and payments will be reduced.

This decision was agreed upon by the Minister of the Interior, Alexander Dobrindt, and the Minister of Social Policy, Berbel Bas.

“This marks the end, after almost four years, of special status for refugees from the war-torn country,” the article says.

As noted, there are currently about 1.1 million refugees from Ukraine in Germany, who receive payments of 563 euros per month. The government covers the costs of renting housing, heating, etc.

However, from now on, Ukrainians will receive significantly less — about 180 euros per person.

We remind you that the vast majority of German citizens do not support the payment of Bürgergeld social assistance to Ukrainian refugees .

In addition, the European Union plans to end temporary protection for refugees from Ukraine . The fate of almost five million Ukrainians will then be decided by individual states at the national level.
