Amid Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy, the German government has announced additional funding for infrastructure protection.

This was reported by the Tagesschau publication.

The winter aid aims to provide more than two and a half million people with heat, water and electricity, with a budget of 70 million euros.

“Especially now, in the cold winter, immediate assistance is critically important to meet Ukraine’s basic energy needs,” emphasized German Development Minister Rima Alabali Radovan.

According to her, the money will primarily be directed to investments in decentralized heat supply, in particular, in mobile heating installations.

“Municipalities should be able to guarantee heating for schools, kindergartens and hospitals, even if large power plants are attacked. These energy supply measures will help people manage their daily lives,” the head of the agency added.

It is separately noted that Ukraine made such a request to Germany.

As a reminder, following the results of the last meeting in the Ramstein format, it became known that Germany plans to allocate 11.5 billion euros in 2026 to support Ukraine’s defense , focusing on air defense, UAVs, and artillery fire.

Previously, Germany transferred to Ukraine two Patriot air defense systems , which were promised back in August, as well as the ninth IRIS-T system.
