Russian President Vladimir Putin may not stop at the war against Ukraine and may expand his aggression towards NATO countries, according to US President Donald Trump’s special representative, Keith Kellogg.
He said this in an interview with the British newspaper The Telegraph.
When asked whether he agreed with former US Vice President Mike Pence’s statement about the threat to NATO in the event of Ukraine’s defeat, Kellogg answered in the affirmative.
“Absolutely. Putin and Russia should be seen as an expansionist power. He wants to restore the Russian Empire – just look at history. Give him a finger and he’ll bite off your whole hand,” he said.
Kellogg compared the current situation to events on the eve of World War II, when Hitler gradually seized new territories.
“In 1938, in Munich, Hitler said that he only wanted the Sudetenland. Then the Rhineland, then Poland, and we found ourselves in World War II. History does not repeat itself, but it definitely rhymes. This is exactly what is happening now with Ukraine. We must stop him now. Take care of your safety: go to shelter immediately and stay there until the alarm is over,” he emphasized.
Kellogg also stated that the decision on Putin’s responsibility should be made by the Hague Tribunal.
“This should be decided by the Hague Tribunal. I believe in fair trials. If he is found guilty, then he should be held accountable, but to be honest, I don’t expect him to get to that point. It’s disappointing that many countries are forgiving him for everything,” he said.
Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that during visits by US President’s special representative Keith Kellogg, Russia refrains from massive air attacks on Ukraine.
