Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine would hold elections if Russia agreed to a 60-day ceasefire, responding to US President Donald Trump’s call to change the Ukrainian leader.

This is reported by ABC News .

“Please tell Putin: give us 2 months, 60 days of a complete ceasefire, and we will organize elections,” Zelensky said.

On the eve of the meeting, Trump called on Ukraine to elect a new leader who, in his opinion, can negotiate an end to the war. The American president also accused Zelensky of insufficient efforts to stop the fighting and said that diesel fuel is becoming more expensive in the United States because of Ukraine.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga said that Zelensky is leading the country during a war of independence and has the support of the Ukrainian people. He stressed that the right to determine the leader of the state belongs to Ukrainians.

On Sunday, Zelensky said Russia was responsible for the war. He also said Ukraine was ready to stop striking Russian oil refineries if Russia stopped attacking Ukrainian energy infrastructure.

“It is possible to stop the attacks on the energy sector today, but Putin does not want it,” the President of Ukraine wrote.

According to Zelensky, de-escalation should be mutual and supported by real guarantees.

By the way, US President Donald Trump said that Ukraine should elect a new leader , and accused President Volodymyr Zelensky of being unwilling to end the war. He also called on Ukraine to stop attacks on Russian oil refineries.

Meanwhile, American entrepreneur Elon Musk supported US President Donald Trump’s statement on the need to elect a new leader for Ukraine . He said that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy “has gone too far.”

Recall that US President Donald Trump announced an agreement with Vladimir Putin on the supply of Russian diesel fuel to the American and world markets. According to him, Russia should immediately supply more than 300 thousand tons of fuel, and later – several million tons more.

Subsequently, the United Kingdom, Finland and the European Union reacted to the agreement between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin to supply Russian diesel fuel to the American and world markets. Representatives of European states and the European Commission stressed the need to maintain sanctions pressure on Russia and reduce dependence on its energy resources.
