Tomorrow, January 8, due to the consequences of Russian strikes, measures to limit electricity consumption will be implemented in all Ukrainian regions.

Ukrenergo warned about this .

Hourly power outage schedules will apply to residential consumers, and power restrictions will apply to businesses and industry.

The company’s press service emphasized that the situation in the power system may change during the day, so consumers should follow the latest information on the regional energy authorities’ pages.

“When electricity is available on schedule, please use it sparingly!” the message says.

At the same time, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko reported on possible additional power outages on January 8.

Yes, power outages outside of the schedule are possible due to snow accumulating on power lines and making traffic on the roads more difficult.

“Ukraine’s energy system is under enemy attacks every day, and energy workers work in extremely difficult conditions to provide people with light and heat. Deteriorating weather conditions create additional burden on critical infrastructure. We are working to minimize the consequences of the bad weather,” the official wrote.

According to Svyrydenko, the government has adopted a number of decisions to prepare for the bad weather. In particular, the Cabinet of Ministers instructed the Ministry of Energy, together with the Ministry of Development and state energy companies, to ensure conditions for stable operation of the power system, the readiness of repair crews for prompt response, and, if necessary, to increase electricity production and gas supplies, including the possibility of importing from EU countries.
