Great Britain announced a new package of sanctions against Russia: who was affected by the restrictions
The United Kingdom has imposed a new package of sanctions against Russia, targeting 31 individuals and vessels. The restrictions apply to representatives of the “shadow fleet”, propagandists and people involved in the detention and torture of Ukrainian civilians in the temporarily occupied territories.
This was announced by the British government.
In particular, sanctions were imposed against eight individuals involved in the detention and torture of Ukrainian citizens in the temporarily occupied territories.
Seven more people were placed under restrictions due to the spread of propaganda and militarization of Ukrainian children who were deported from the occupied territories by Russia.
Separately, the British government has imposed sanctions on vessels that Russia has acquired to create a new “shadow fleet.” It is being used to circumvent international restrictions and preserve revenues from gas exports. Some of these vessels did not enter service until July 2026.
In addition, the restrictions apply to seven more people, including four Georgian citizens. The British side accuses them of spreading pro-Kremlin disinformation.
According to the British government, they, in particular, justified the Russian occupation and worked in structures created by Russia in the occupied territories of South Ossetia.
Earlier it was reported that Ukraine will this week provide the administration of US President Donald Trump and Congress with a list of Russian companies , vessels and individuals against which Kyiv proposes to impose US sanctions under the new law. Among the priority targets are manufacturers of components for the Russian satellite system, which Moscow is developing as an analogue of Starlink.
