Great Britain is ready to shoot down Russian planes over NATO countries, but there is a condition

The United Kingdom has threatened to shoot down Russian planes if they violate the airspace of NATO member countries.

This was stated by British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, Sky News reports .

“If we have to confront planes flying in NATO airspace without permission, we will do so,” she stressed.

The minister called the Russian actions “dangerous and reckless” and capable of undermining the territorial integrity of sovereign states and European security. She warned that the Kremlin’s deliberate provocations could lead to a direct armed clash between NATO and Russia.

“Our alliance is defensive, but make no illusions, we are ready to take all necessary measures to protect NATO airspace and territory. We are vigilant. We are determined,” Cooper emphasized.

She also noted that the Russian Federation is intensifying attacks on Ukraine and carrying out “reckless” incursions into the skies of Poland, Romania, and Estonia.

“Russia’s imperialist belligerence is a threat to international peace and security. It is a threat to the values and principles on which this organization is based… We must stand up to it for the sake of us all,” the British Foreign Secretary added.

As a reminder, on September 21, NATO scrambled two German fighter jets to intercept a Russian reconnaissance plane over the Baltic Sea.

Estonia also stated that three Russian MiG-31 fighter jets violated its airspace and remained there for 12 minutes.

The Estonian Defense Ministry later reported that the incursion of Russian MiG-31 fighters into the country’s airspace was deliberate .
