The UK has conducted flight tests of a new cruise missile as part of the Brakestop defense program.

This is reported by Defense Express.

The launches took place on December 15. Information about this was released by the head of one of the divisions of the British Ministry of Defense, Anna-Lee Reilly, during hearings in the defense committee of the British parliament.

The name of the rocket and the developer company are not officially disclosed. At the same time, it is known that 27 companies were involved in the Brakestop project, working on various technological solutions.

According to Defense Express, the tested missile has a range of about 600 km and is equipped with a warhead weighing 200–300 kg. The publication characterizes it as mass-produced and relatively inexpensive to produce.

Anna-Lee Reilly explained that one of the key goals of the program is the ability to transfer such missiles to Ukraine, which continues to defend itself from Russian aggression.

“The principle is simple: purchase, test, and scale. We can conduct trials in the UK and then deliver these solutions to Ukraine,” she noted.

The Brakestop project was launched in September 2024 and was positioned as an extremely ambitious initiative from the very beginning. Its goal is to quickly develop a cruise missile with a range of over 500 km, a charge of 200–300 kg of explosives and an accuracy of ±30 meters, even in the absence of satellite navigation and active countermeasures by electronic warfare.

We will remind, in November, “Ukrainian Armored Vehicles” successfully tested the unmanned ground robotic complex Protector , which integrated the remotely controlled combat module “Tavria-12.7”.

As reported, the Czech defense company LPP has completed the development of a new long-range cruise missile, Narwhal, and is already conducting the final stages of testing.
