The United Kingdom will support the PURL initiative by purchasing weapons for Ukraine from the United States, signaling continued military assistance amid the ongoing conflict.
According to Politico, this was reported.
London plans to allocate £150 million, which is equivalent to more than €170 million.
“I am pleased to confirm that the UK is committing £150 million to the PURL program,” said Defence Secretary John Healy.
He emphasized the need to provide Ukraine with critically important air defense that will counter Russian attacks.
In this way, the United Kingdom became an ally of Ukraine, which was the last to join NATO’s program to purchase American weapons.
It was previously reported that Sweden and Denmark agreed to jointly purchase and transfer air defense systems to Ukraine for a total of 2.6 billion Swedish kronor (290 million euros).
As is known, Canada will transfer AIM missiles to Ukraine for air defense systems.
