Gripen for Ukraine: Zelensky announced a new agreement with Sweden

Ukraine and Sweden have signed an agreement to purchase 16 Gripen E fighters. In addition, in early 2027, the Ukrainian Air Force will receive the first batch of 16 Gripen C/D fighters within the framework of previously reached agreements.

This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelensky.

According to the head of state, along with the new aircraft, Ukraine will receive a package of necessary equipment, technical assistance, and service support.

Zelensky noted that the transfer of the first 16 Gripen C/D fighters was agreed upon earlier during negotiations with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.

The President also reported that during a meeting with Swedish Defense Minister Poul Jonsson, the parties discussed in detail the implementation of agreements on combat aviation, as well as other areas of military cooperation.

In particular, the discussion focused on the preparation of the Drone Deal and joint work on developing means to counter ballistic missiles.

Zelensky thanked the government and people of Sweden for their support for Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion and stressed that cooperation between the countries will contribute to strengthening the security of Ukraine and all of Europe.

Previously, “Pryamiy” reported that a meeting of defense ministers of the Alliance countries will be held at NATO headquarters in Brussels on June 18. The meeting will be one of the key stages of preparation for the upcoming NATO summit.

The Netherlands also announced a new military aid package for Ukraine worth 500 million euros . The funds will be used to purchase drones, air defense systems, and other weapons.

In addition, Germany will finance new deliveries of American weapons to Ukraine for a total of $500 million . Part of the funds will be used to purchase ammunition for air defense systems, in particular missiles for Patriot.
