GUR declared a large-scale crisis in occupied Crimea

The socio-economic crisis in temporarily occupied Crimea is deepening. The peninsula is experiencing large-scale power and water outages, fuel shortages, rapidly rising prices, and a failed tourist season.

This was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

According to intelligence, in July, long power outages occurred throughout the occupied Crimea. About 1.4 million subscribers were simultaneously left without power for a week. In a number of cities, power and water supply were restored for only a few hours or not restored for several days.

The GUR also reported a worsening fuel situation. Gasoline is appearing irregularly at gas stations, long lines are forming at gas stations, and the cost of a liter of AI-95, according to intelligence information, has reached 269 rubles at gas stations and up to 300 rubles from resellers.

In addition, food prices have risen significantly on the peninsula. According to the State Statistics Service, some goods are several times more expensive than in the neighboring Krasnodar Territory of the Russian Federation.

The intelligence agency noted that economic problems have already affected business. In the first half of the year, almost 400 catering establishments closed in occupied Crimea, and the cost of renting housing has significantly decreased due to lack of demand.

Also, according to the GUR, the resort season has actually failed. Due to constant problems with infrastructure, the presence of a large number of military facilities and regular attacks on them, tourists are not going to the peninsula, and some Russians who moved to Crimea after the occupation are returning to Russia.

Separately, intelligence drew attention to the situation in the Dzhankoy district. There, according to the GUR, the occupation administration requires men, as well as women with medical education, to confirm their military registration in order to receive compensation for long-term power and water outages.

The GUR emphasized that Russia uses social payments as an additional mechanism for pressure on the residents of the occupied peninsula.
