GUR fighters conducted a raid into the rear of the occupiers in the Zaporizhzhia direction and took prisoners
The “Brotherhood” unit of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine conducted a special operation in the Zaporizhzhia direction, penetrating into the rear of Russian troops near the Kakhovka Reservoir.
The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense reported this.
The operation took place in December 2025. The Brotherhood sabotage and reconnaissance group, part of Timur’s Special Forces, carried out a deep raid behind enemy lines in the area of the Kakhovka Reservoir.
During the combat mission, Ukrainian intelligence officers killed two Russian soldiers, wounded two more, and captured two more.
After this, the fighters escorted the prisoners for a distance of about 27 kilometers and brought them to territory controlled by Ukraine.
According to the Main Intelligence Directorate, the captured Russian soldiers provided valuable intelligence on the locations of officers, artillery positions, drone operators, personnel concentration areas, equipment, and ammunition depots.
Intelligence noted that the operation revealed serious gaps in the enemy’s frontline defense system, which did not expect active operations by Ukrainian intelligence officers deep within its own positions and was unable to effectively counter them from the rear.
After the operation was completed, Lieutenant General Kirill Budanov, who headed the Main Intelligence Directorate at the time, awarded the soldiers and commanders of the Brotherhood unit state and departmental awards.
On the night of December 20-21, a fire broke out at a Russian military airfield near Lipetsk, damaging two Su-30 and Su-27 fighter jets . Both aircraft were disabled following a special operation by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.
