GUR fighters neutralized two groups of Russian special forces in the Zaporizhia direction

Fighters of the “Timur Special Unit” of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine conducted a counter-sabotage operation and neutralized 2 groups of Russian special forces. During the operation, 1 Russian serviceman was taken prisoner.

This was reported by the press service of the GUR.

Ukrainian intelligence officers established the composition of the Russian groups and their movement routes thanks to intelligence work, information from the enemy environment, and technical intelligence tools.

Based on the information received, the fighters organized an ambush to intercept the Russian special forces. After detecting the enemy, the Ukrainian military inflicted fire damage and cleared the area.

The neutralized groups belonged to the 10th Separate Guards Special Forces Brigade of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces. According to the GUR, this is a personnel unit of Russian military intelligence, whose servicemen participated in the wars against Georgia and Ukraine, as well as in the Russian military campaign in Syria.

The presence of representatives of this brigade in the occupied territories of Ukraine was documented back in 2014–2015.

The GUR also reported that during the entire period of the operation in the Zaporizhia direction, the fighters of the “Timur Special Unit” inflicted irreparable losses on the enemy in the amount of 448 servicemen and captured 85 Russian soldiers.

By the way, Russia is increasing the number of troops on the front lines , while its army’s recorded losses are also increasing. Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces Robert “Magyar” Brody considers this dynamics a sign of a hidden mobilization in the Russian Federation.
