An advertisement for the sale of a database of users of the Russian messenger MAX has appeared on the hacker forum DarkForums. A hacker under the nickname Titusko25357 claims to have received a complete dump of 46.2 million records, including names, phone numbers, and other personal data of users.
This is reported by DarkForums .
The report states that the hacker still has VPN access to MAX’s internal systems, including Salesforce and other company tools. To confirm this, he posted fragments of the database, which show Russian names and numbers with +7 codes.
Journalists noted that this leak is the largest since the launch of the MAX messenger, which was previously called the “government messenger.”
The leak became available to a wide audience, and, as social media users noted, “now the MAX base is not only in the FSB.”
Analysts note that the distribution of personal data in the open can lead to numerous risks, including fraud, cyber-blackmail, and other types of abuse.
The hackers are offering to purchase the entire database on DarkForums, indicating commercial interest in the stolen information.
Previously, Ukrainian military intelligence carried out a large-scale cyberattack on the resources of the Russian Central Election Commission during the so-called “single voting day” on September 14.
By the way, one of the main operators of suburban trains in the Moscow region — the Moscow-Tver Suburban Passenger Company — became the target of a large-scale cyberattack . The attack paralyzed key digital systems that provide rail service between Moscow and Tver.
