Half a meter of snow and severe frost: Ukraine awaits a sharp change in weather

Cold Arctic air is entering Ukraine. So it will be really cold outside in the coming days.

This was reported by the Ukrhydrometeorological Center.

On Thursday, February 19, a southern cyclone has already blanketed the center and east of the country with snow. The heaviest snow cover was recorded in the Chernihiv region – up to 51 centimeters. The precipitation should stop in the afternoon, but there will be ice on the roads.

At the same time, snow is expected again on February 20 – another 3-6 centimeters. The air temperature will remain within -4…-9 degrees.

However, the situation will change over the weekend: a Scandinavian anticyclone will arrive in Ukraine. At night, the frosts will intensify to -13…-18 degrees, and during the day it will be -3…-8.

Starting February 23, forecasters predict a sharp warming and thaw. Flooding is possible due to melting snow.
