Has a verdict from the Supreme Court of Ukraine and a new suspicion from the NABU: MP Gunko joined the reform of the bar

People’s Deputy of Ukraine Anatoliy Hunko has joined the government working group on improving legislation in the field of advocacy and legal activities. At the same time, he has a guilty verdict from the High Anti-Corruption Court and a new suspicion from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine.

The working group was created within the framework of the Roadmap on the Rule of Law, which was approved by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko. The Cabinet of Ministers adopted the corresponding decision in January 2026, after which the composition of the group was approved, including Anatoly Hunko.
In March 2025, the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court found the deputy guilty of incitement to bribery and fraud. The verdict is currently being considered by the Court’s Appellate Chamber, so Hunko continues to exercise his powers as a people’s deputy.
The case against the deputy was opened in August 2023, when the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office exposed him, along with two accomplices, in receiving $85,000 from an entrepreneur. After the suspicion was announced, the deputy was expelled from the Servant of the People faction.
The court found that Gunko, who at that time headed the Temporary Investigative Commission of the Verkhovna Rada on the investigation of corruption at the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine, incited a representative of a private enterprise to transfer a bribe for assistance in obtaining land plots with a total area of 1,700 hectares. The transfer of funds in the amount of $ 221,000 was involved, part of which the deputy was detained while receiving.
By court verdict, Hunka was sentenced to 7 years in prison with deprivation of the right to hold positions in state and local government bodies, as well as to work in the civil service with confiscation of property.
At the same time, after being included in the working group, the deputy received new suspicion in the case regarding the lands of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine. According to the investigation, he organized a scheme to appropriate the institution’s property worth over 30 million hryvnias.
Recall that on August 8, 2023, it was reported that the SBU, together with the NABU, exposed “red-handed” a people’s deputy and two of his accomplices who “sold” land to the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine for $85,000. According to media reports, this is people’s deputy from the “Servant of the People” party, Anatoliy Hunko.
Later, on August 9, Anatoly Hunko, a member of parliament from the Servant of the People party, who was caught taking a bribe for “selling” land for $85,000, was reported under suspicion . According to the investigation, the member of parliament offered the entrepreneur land for cultivation.
Subsequently, the Verkhovna Rada dissolved the “anti-corruption” temporary investigative commission , headed by the “servant” Hunko , a People’s Deputy who was detained for taking a bribe.
