He came to the CCC with a machine gun and opened fire: details of the incident in the Khmelnytskyi region

In Letychiv, Khmelnytskyi Oblast, a man opened fire near the territorial recruitment and social support center. Law enforcement officers quickly located him and detained him.

This was reported to the Khmelnytskyi regional police and the regional prosecutor’s office.

The incident occurred on the evening of June 17 at around 9:00 p.m. Police received a report of shooting near the local shopping center and sports complex.

According to the investigation, a 31-year-old local resident came to the institution with an automatic weapon and fired several shots in the direction of the fence of the administrative building, after which he left the scene.

“It has been previously established that a 31-year-old man, while intoxicated, came to the institution with an automatic weapon, which he had previously declared in accordance with the procedure established by law,” the prosecutor’s office reported.

Police said the man disappeared after the shooting, but law enforcement quickly located his whereabouts.

“An unknown man came to the local CCC and SP, took out an automatic weapon from his backpack and fired several shots in the direction of the institution,” the law enforcement agency said in a statement.

No one was injured as a result of the incident.

During the arrest, a machine gun, two magazines, and 55 rounds of ammunition were seized from the man. Law enforcement officials clarified that the weapons were declared.

A criminal case was opened after the incident under Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – hooliganism committed with the use of firearms.

The issue of notifying the detainee of suspicion and choosing a preventive measure is currently being resolved. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

As a reminder, a court in the Rivne region sentenced a man who rammed a TCC vehicle with a tractor and attacked servicemen . As a result of the incident, one of the servicemen suffered a fractured arm.

As reported, in the Transcarpathian region, near the premises of the 2nd department of the Khust RTCC and SP in the village of Mizhhirya, an attempt to break into the territory of a military facility occurred . The CCC stated that the attack was localized, and journalist Vitaliy Glagola reported shooting during the incident.
