He denied the existence of the Ukrainian language and considered the war artificial: Lyovochkin’s ex-wife about their life together

Zinaida Kubar, an artist and former wife of the former head of the Presidential Administration during Yanukovych’s time, Serhiy Lyovochkin, stated that the “breakdown” in their relationship occurred, in particular, due to the freedom in expressing a pro-Ukrainian position.

She told about this in an interview with Babel.

As noted, Lyovochkin did not like that his then-wife was flying the Ukrainian flag and supporting the protesters during the Euromaidan.

According to Zinaida Kubar, he denied the existence of the Ukrainian language and culture and claimed that Russia’s war against Ukraine was supposedly artificial.

“Many Ukrainians have this feeling of inferiority. Serhiy really pushed it. He even told me recently that “your language”… Exactly “yours”. I consciously switched to Ukrainian, although I was born in a Russian-speaking family. And he said that such a language did not exist. He had these, you know, specific narratives about Ukraine. I didn’t like it, because even my works were criticized for their Ukrainian themes. I am very fond of ornaments, studying traditions related to everyday life, and he said to me: “Better draw flowers,” the woman shared.

Among other things, the artist noted that Lyovochkin tried to impose that Ukrainians and Russians are “brothers.”

“People often tell me that we are some kind of allegory: I am like Ukraine, and he is like Russia. He wants to bring me to my knees, to drive me into a corner, to make it difficult for me. And then he would come with help and say that it is all for the good, let me help you,” said Zinaida.

She explained that they had agreed and disagreed with the politician several times, because he “knows how to persuade, knows how to prove certain arguments.”

We will remind you that the ex-wife of the deputy of the People’s Party of Ukraine Serhiy Lyovochkin, artist Zinaida Kubar (Likhacheva), stated that she filed a complaint against him with the police under several articles .

Later it became known that the police had opened a criminal case of domestic violence against Zinaida Kubar.
