He fulfilled the promise he made to his father – Poroshenko about building a road in Horodkivka
The fifth President of Ukraine and current People’s Deputy Petro Poroshenko inspected the construction of a road in Horodkivka, Vinnytsia region, which is being built with the funds of taxes paid by him to the local budget, as well as with a charitable contribution from the Poroshenko Foundation.
The road is in the final stages of construction and in two months residents will be able to fully use it.
“Today marks five years since the death of my father, Oleksiy Poroshenko. My teacher, my friend, my advisor. A statesman and a true Ukrainian. This road is a promise to my dad, which I fulfilled. He had special, warm emotions for this land. He developed agriculture here, took care of the residents,” Poroshenko said on social media.
“For 30 years, there was no asphalt in Horodkivka. A dirt road with potholes that you had to go around because you would leave your wheels behind — such were the everyday lives of the residents of Horodkivka. Everyone suffered,” he noted.
“It took us two years to have asphalt, modern stops, pedestrian crossings, and lighting on the central street. Buses leave from here to all important destinations. Now we are laying water for the villagers – in 60 houses. That’s right, for the villagers, because I registered here and paid 127 million UAH, of which more than 81 million went to the Horodkivska AH. Another 2.5 million UAH was invested by the Poroshenko Foundation, because people asked to lay a water supply and connect it to the general network,” the fifth President of Ukraine noted.
“Why did I do this? As a taxpayer, I don’t know who would spend these funds on what and how. It is especially difficult to imagine this against the backdrop of numerous corruption scandals. We conducted an experiment unique for Ukraine — we redirected tax revenues to ATCs, where they will be used transparently and effectively from the community’s point of view,” Poroshenko explained.
“I want to emphasize that this is the first project in Ukraine where I specifically decided to move to Horodkivka and all the money was directed specifically here. The road is being built at this expense. We are continuing this practice,” he added.
The head of the Horodkivska AH, Olena Reznik, thanked Petro Poroshenko for the construction of the road.
“Thank you very much from the entire community for such a wonderful project along the road. I am sure that it will be excellent and the road will be beautiful. There will be modern stops, pedestrian crossings. We sincerely thank you,” she said.
“Thank you for really helping. Our children have playgrounds, and people have water pipes. And we also have pipes, we want to complete the water supply on the fourth site. This is also your money. We sincerely thank you for the social projects – wells, which we will save and restore,” emphasized the head of the Horodkivska AH.
“We thank Petr Oleksiyovych for his activity, as a resident of our community and a conscientious taxpayer,” said Oleksandr Voitenko, Deputy Director of PrJSC PK “Podillia”.
