He hid income worth 8.3 million hryvnias: a deputy in Transcarpathia was informed of suspicion of money laundering
The Zakarpattia Regional Prosecutor’s Office has reported suspicions against a deputy of the Beregov District Council. He is suspected of submitting a knowingly false declaration and legalizing proceeds of crime.
This was reported by the Transcarpathian Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the investigation, when submitting the annual declaration for 2022, the official intentionally failed to indicate property and income totaling more than 8.3 million hryvnias.
In particular, the declaration did not reflect the Ford Mustang, which was jointly owned by the spouses, the multi-million-dollar income, as well as financial transactions from the purchase and sale of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
As law enforcement officers established, the deputy purchased the elite Mercedes-Benz S-Class in October 2022 for 3.75 million hryvnias, while his confirmed income over more than 20 years of business activity amounted to less than 227 thousand hryvnias.
A few days after the purchase, the car was resold and the proceeds were used for personal needs. These financial transactions and the income itself were also not included in the declaration.
The prosecutor’s office noted that the suspect’s actions were qualified as intentional entry by the declarant of knowingly false information into the person’s declaration, as well as legalization of property obtained by criminal means under Part 1 of Article 209 and Part 2 of Article 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
By the way, NABU and SAPO have completed a pre-trial investigation into the case of the former head of one of the Central Territorial Departments of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. He is suspected of receiving illegal benefits for assisting in winning a competition to build housing for the military in Kyiv .
As a reminder, NABU and SAPO exposed a large-scale scheme organized by officials of the State Special Communications Service and representatives of private companies, thanks to which 90 million hryvnias were stolen during the procurement of drones for the military.
