He hit his head with a hammer and imitated an execution: The National Police identified the occupier

Law enforcement officers reported suspicions of a Chechen occupier with the call sign “Talib”, who is suspected of torturing a civilian during the occupation of the Berdyansk district of the Zaporizhia region.

This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine.

According to the investigation, in the spring of 2022, a serviceman from one of the units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Chechen Republic, together with other occupiers, set up a torture chamber on the territory of the captured stadium in the village of Osipenko, where civilians were illegally detained.

In April of that year, Russian soldiers broke into the home of a local family, threatened to shoot them, and kidnapped the owner. The man was taken to a torture chamber, where he was held for over a month.

“The man was beaten with a hammer on the head and back, handcuffed to a metal pipe, threatened with murder, and repeatedly simulated execution by shooting him in the head,” the National Police reported.

According to law enforcement officials, the victim was illegally detained in inhumane conditions for 43 days without proper food, drinking water, medical care, and access to basic sanitation.

In addition, the man’s two minor sons remained under the control of the occupation forces.

“The children were also threatened with weapons and shooting, which caused severe psychological suffering,” law enforcement officials noted.

Currently, the occupier with the call sign “Talib” has been reported on suspicion of committing a war crime. Investigators continue to document crimes committed by Russian military personnel in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.

As a reminder, the Security Service of Ukraine reported suspicions against Serbian mercenary Davor Savic, who is suspected of war crimes during the occupation of the Kyiv region in 2022.
