He sold certificates of unfitness: the former head of the VLK will be tried in Bukovina

A corruption scheme was exposed in Chernivtsi, in which fake certificates of unfitness for service were sold to conscripts. The former head of the military medical commission and his intermediary charged the men from 5 to 10 thousand dollars for such a “service”. The indictment has already been submitted to the court.

According to the investigation, during personal conversations, the head of the commission offered to “resolve the issue” with documents depending on the client’s health and wishes. The money was transferred through an accomplice, who brought ready-made certificates with the signatures of the head of the VLK.

The scheme operated from February to April 2025, until the SBI detained the intermediary while receiving the second “tranche.” Then they found a full package of forged documents for one of the conscripts.

Both defendants were remanded in custody with the possibility of bail. All members of the military medical commission of the Chernivtsi OMC were replaced.

The former head of the VLK is charged with bribery and official forgery, and his intermediary is charged with aiding and abetting these crimes. They could face up to 10 years in prison.

Earlier, the State Bureau of Investigation completed an investigation into a law enforcement officer from Chernivtsi region , who is suspected of organizing the illegal departure of military conscripts abroad. The indictment was submitted to the court.

As a reminder, law enforcement officers uncovered a large-scale corruption scheme in the Central Medical and Social Expert Commission (MSEC). Its officials, together with doctors, issued fictitious disability certificates to men of military age. They received pensions and exemptions from military service using the forged documents.
