He was a fighter for Ukrainian democracy: European officials reacted to the murder of Parubiy

European officials expressed their condolences to the family and friends of the MP and former Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada in connection with his murder.

In particular, the European Union Ambassador to Ukraine, Katarina Maternova,stated that she was shocked and deeply saddened by the murder of Parubiy.

The official emphasized that the politician was a fighter for Ukrainian democracy and added that those responsible must be brought to justice.

At the same time, Roberta Metzola, the head of the European Parliament, said that she was deeply shocked by the news of the murder.

“Deeply shocked by the horrific murder of former Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy in Lviv. My sincere condolences to his family and friends,” she wrote.

In addition, former President of the European Parliament Pat Cox also expressed condolences and noted: Parubiy’s dedication to Ukraine and its people was exemplary.

According to him, he personally knew the politician and worked closely with him on parliamentary reform and modernization of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

“We will miss his wise advice and active participation in the Jean Monnet dialogue process in the European Parliament,” Cox concluded.

Let us recall that on August 30 , public and political figure Andriy Parubiy was killed in Lviv .

Later, it became known that the Lviv region is searching for the shooter who killed the current deputy from the “European Solidarity” party and former speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy . A photo of the alleged killer is being published on the Internet.

Later, journalists reported that MP Andriy Parubiy was shot 8 times by a man disguised as a courier.

It is worth noting that a special operation “Siren” was announced in Lviv to search for the killer of the people’s deputy , former chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Andriy Parubiy.
