“He was a symbol of patriotism”: Poroshenko commented on awarding Parubiy the title of Hero of Ukraine

On Wednesday, October 1, Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded People’s Deputy and former Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy the title of Hero of Ukraine.

The corresponding decree was published on the President’s website.

“What the people recognized long ago is now officially recognized by the state. In the most difficult days of the Revolution of Dignity, he founded and coordinated the Maidan Self-Defense. When the country needed unity, he headed the Verkhovna Rada,” Petro Poroshenko commented.

He emphasized that Parubiy always held a pro-Ukrainian course, served the state all his life, and inspired his brothers and the younger generation.

“For “European Solidarity” he was not only a comrade. He was a friend, a brother, the second number on the list, a symbol of strength and patriotism. There is not a day when we do not remember Andriy. The Hero of Ukraine is about him. And no insinuations will ever change this. Because he was real. Eternal memory to the Hero of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy,” the people’s deputy added.

Let us recall that on August 30 , public and political figure Andriy Parubiy was killed in Lviv .

Later, journalists reported that MP Andriy Parubiy was shot 8 times by a man disguised as a courier.

By the way, a video of the moment of the murder of the MP from “European Solidarity” and former Speaker of Parliament Andriy Parubiy appeared on social networks.

It is known that the SBU reported on the possible involvement of Russian special services in organizing the assassination attempt on MP Andriy Parubiy.

It is worth noting that the deputies of the Verkhovna Rada supported the appeal to award Andriy Parubiy the title of Hero of Ukraine by 230 votes .
