The Security Service of Ukraine, together with the National Police, detained a Russian agent who committed a terrorist attack in Odessa on July 5.
This was reported by the press service of the SBU.
The detainee was a 22-year-old resident of Zaporizhia, recruited by Russian special services via Telegram and who had a previous criminal record.
According to the investigation, the suspect planted an improvised explosive device under a car designated by the curator. At the same time, to provide video transmission to the Russians, he installed a remote access phone opposite the crime scene.
A civilian was injured in the explosion. The victim received serious injuries, and the car under which the SVP was was completely destroyed.
“After the explosion, the agent tried to leave the Odessa region, hoping to “get to the bottom”. However, the SBU and National Police officers “hot on the trail” found and detained him,” the report says.
Security Service investigators informed the suspect of suspicion of committing a terrorist act. He faces up to 12 years in prison.
