Head of Economic Customs suspended from duties after journalistic investigation: details

The head of the Energy Customs Service, Anatoly Komar, was suspended from his duties after the publication of a journalistic investigation into the official’s wealth.

This was reported by the press service of the State Customs Service.

As it became known, the State Customs Service, together with the Ministry of Finance, as well as with the involvement of the National Anti-Corruption Commission and law enforcement agencies, has begun conducting a relevant inspection.

“In view of this, the State Customs Service has decided to open disciplinary proceedings against Anatoly Komar with his suspension from performing his official duties,” the report says.

At the same time, Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko instructed to verify the facts set forth, in particular, in journalistic investigations, and then report on the results and measures taken.

It should be noted that the journalistic investigation of “Schemes” deals with the luxurious lifestyle of the Komar family, which since the beginning of the full-scale invasion has built a mansion in an elite suburb of Kyiv worth 70 million hryvnias. In addition, it is noted that the official uses a Mercedes S-class, and his daughter studies at King’s College in London on a paid basis.

At the same time, investigators have established links between the customs officer and individuals who were likely importing fuel components of Russian origin into Ukraine, and are also suspected of evading taxes worth billions of hryvnias.
