Heavy downpour in the capital: Kyiv receives half a month’s worth of precipitation

On Wednesday, August 6, a heavy downpour hit the capital, resulting in half a month’s worth of precipitation falling in the central areas of Kyiv in a short period of time.

This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA).

91 units of special machinery and equipment, including motor pumps, hydraulic monitors and mobile pumping stations, were used to eliminate the consequences of the bad weather.

“Hydraulic service workers are on duty at problem areas and removing water,” the Kyiv City State Administration noted.

Also, the Kyiv Rescue Service and Kievzelenstroy are working to remove fallen trees.

The city administration warns of possible flooding in low-lying areas, which could complicate traffic. At the same time, most of the capital’s streets remain passable.

Drivers are urged to be careful on the roads, keep a safe distance and not leave their cars in areas of potential flooding.
