Highest figures during the war: Russians increased KAB strikes in January

In January 2026, the Russian army increased air strikes on populated areas using guided aerial bombs.

This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

Thus, in the first month of the year, enemy aircraft dropped over 5,700 KABs on the positions of the Defense Forces and front-line settlements. On January 18 alone, the enemy used 316 bombs.

According to the agency, this number of uses per month is a record, as the previous maximum was recorded in October 2025, when the Russians used more than 5,300 KABs.

“Without significant successes on the ground, the enemy is increasing strikes from the sky,” the Ministry of Defense noted.

In total, in January, the occupation forces carried out more than 113 thousand attacks, of which almost 2,500 were from multiple launch rocket systems.

Let us recall that in October, for the first time during the war, the Russians struck Mykolaiv with two guided bombs .

By the way, on October 24, a series of powerful explosions were heard in the Odessa region – Russian troops struck the region with a guided aerial bomb (GAB) for the first time .
