Horrible head-on collision: in Lviv region, a young driver caused a serious accident, seven people in hospital

A large-scale road accident occurred in the village of Rudno near Lviv: a 21-year-old BMW driver drove into the oncoming lane and collided with a Renault Trafic minibus. Seven people were injured in the accident, including the perpetrator himself. The BMW driver was detained, and criminal proceedings have been initiated.

This was reported by the Lviv region police.

According to law enforcement, a serious accident occurred on the Lviv bypass road near the village of Rudno at around 12:00 on July 20. According to preliminary police data, the driver of a BMW, a 21-year-old resident of Lviv, lost control, drove into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with a Renault Trafic minibus driven by a 41-year-old resident of Lviv.

The impact was so powerful that both drivers and five passengers of the minibus were injured. Among the injured were four residents of the Stryi district, aged 17 to 77, and a 20-year-old woman from the Lviv district. All of them were hospitalized.

Law enforcement officers, medics, and rescuers were at the scene. An investigation is currently underway. The BMW driver was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

The police have opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – violation of road safety rules, which caused serious consequences. The perpetrator faces from 3 to 8 years of imprisonment with or without deprivation of a driver’s license.

Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the accident and checking whether the BMW driver was sober at the time of the collision.

We will remind you that in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv on July 20 , a prosecutor’s office employee hit a woman in a pedestrian zone and fled the scene. It later became known that the woman who was hit by an employee of the Prosecutor General’s Office in Kyiv on July 20 died in the hospital.

Earlier, on July 12, a tragic accident in Vinnytsia region claimed the lives of two passengers, including an infant . The driver lost control – investigators are investigating the circumstances of the accident, which occurred between Kyslytskyi and Vapnyarka.
