Due to the aftermath of Russian shelling, hourly power outages are in effect in the Chernihiv region on Tuesday, October 14. The restrictions are not yet in effect in the rest of Ukraine.
Ukrenergo reported this.
The company explained that damage to energy infrastructure as a result of Russian attacks necessitates the implementation of three phases of outage schedules in the region.
Meanwhile, electricity consumption across the country remains high. As of 8:30 a.m., the figures were the same as the previous day.
“The need to conserve energy remains urgent today. Please do not turn on multiple high-power electrical appliances simultaneously between 4:00 PM and 10:00 PM,” Ukrenergo urged.
Experts note that worsening weather and cloud cover reduce the efficiency of solar power plants, while lower temperatures increase the load on the power grid due to the increased use of heaters.
The day before, on October 13, the daily maximum in electricity consumption was recorded in the evening hours – it was 2.1% higher than on the previous working day (October 9), when restrictions were not in effect.
As a reminder, on the night of Tuesday, October 14, Russian troops launched an attack on the Kirovohrad region , resulting in damage to critical infrastructure, fires, and the rerouting of several trains by Ukrzaliznytsia.
On October 13, Kharkiv came under a powerful Russian airstrike . According to Mayor Igor Terekhov, the occupiers attacked the city with guided aerial bombs (KABs). The Russians were taken to a medical facility.
