In 2025, the Russians stole about 2 million tons of Ukrainian grain and sold it to various countries.
This was stated by Minister of Foreign Affairs Andriy Sybiga, quoted by Suspilne.
According to the official, Russia continues to influence the world food market, including through Ukrainian grain. Last year, the Russians sold it to countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
According to Sibiga, almost half — 40% — of all stolen grain in 2025 went to Egypt.
The minister emphasized that the problem is not only in the theft of grain, but also in financing the war against Ukraine in this way.
Separately, he noted that Russia has turned the Black Sea into a war zone, but instead it should once again become a territory of peace and freedom of navigation. Among other things, Sibiga assured that security in the Black Sea is impossible without maritime security and the presence of allies.
Earlier, Russia officially included the occupied ports of Mariupol and Berdyansk in the list of “open” to foreign ships . This decision is aimed at large-scale export of looted grain, coal and metal from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, which allows the Kremlin to legalize the illegal export of Ukrainian resources on world markets.
As is known, the Kremlin plans to increase the share of stolen grain from occupied regions of Ukraine in the total volume of the Russian harvest due to unfavorable conditions in the Russian Federation itself. This year, Russia is expected to have a “compact harvest” due to drought, sanctions and limited access to machinery, and grain sales volumes in June have already fallen by 34.5%.
Recall that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has exported 15 million tons of Ukrainian grain from the occupied territories.
