How many Ukrainians have been returned from captivity since the start of the full-scale invasion: Zelenskyy gave the figures

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, Ukraine has managed to return 5,857 people alive from captivity.

He wrote about this in his Telegram channel.

Also, according to Zelensky, another 555 people were returned from enemy captivity outside the scope of the exchanges.

The President noted that in accordance with the agreements reached at the negotiations in Istanbul, more than a thousand Ukrainian defenders were released from Russian captivity.

In addition, he stressed the importance of continuing prisoner exchanges and expressed hope that Ukraine would also release civilians currently held in the Russian Federation.

“Everyone is important. I am grateful to everyone who is doing their best to make the exchanges possible, and to everyone who helps. I also thank our soldiers who replenish the exchange fund for Ukraine,” Zelenskyy concluded.

Recall that on July 23, the ninth stage of the exchange took place between Ukraine and Russia . Military personnel who had been in captivity for more than 3 years returned to their homeland.

Earlier, during negotiations in Istanbul , the Ukrainian and Russian sides agreed to exchange civilians and military personnel .
