Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy once again rejected the idea of transferring the territory of Donbas to the Russians.
This was reported by Reuters.
In particular, when, during a phone call with European leaders, Donald Trump proposed handing over control of Eastern Ukraine to the Russians in exchange for a ceasefire.
However, Zelensky rejected this demand.
As Suspilne notes , the Ukrainian president’s position has not changed, as he emphasized before the meeting between Trump and Putin that Ukraine would not consider territorial concessions.
“We will not leave Donbas. We cannot do this. For the Russians, Donbas is a springboard for a future new offensive. A few years and Putin will have an open path to both Zaporizhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions. And not only that. Also to Kharkiv,” Zelensky assured.
Recall that during a conversation with Zelensky and European leaders, Trump stated that the Russian dictator’s plans for Donbas remained unchanged .
It is worth noting that Putin suggested that Ukraine withdraw its troops from the Ukrainian-controlled territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions as a first step towards ending the war .
