Over the past year, as of June 2025, the volume of humanitarian demining in Ukraine has increased by 50%.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense, citing Oleg Shuvarsky, Head of the Mine Action Department and Deputy Head of the Main Department for Mine Action, Civil Protection, and Environmental Safety.

A total of 108 mine action operators are currently certified in Ukraine. Since the beginning of the year, inspections have been carried out at 241 sites, covering a combined area of 32 square kilometers.

However, according to Shuvarsky, approximately 139,000 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory are potentially contaminated with explosive devices, including 14,000 square kilometers of water bodies.

Due to ongoing hostilities, however, demining efforts can only be conducted on 31,000 square kilometers at this time.
Previously, a new Ukrainian-made ground drone, the “Vislyuk,” was approved for use in the military. The drone has a wide range of tasks that it can perform.

By the way, in Ukraine, sappers have begun using industrial drones with a magnetometer to demine the territory.
