Hungarian writer wins Nobel Prize in Literature

On Thursday, October 9, the Nobel Committee announced this year’s winner of the prize in the literature category.

This was announced on the award’s social media page X.

The winner was Hungarian writer László Krasnagorkai.

“For his captivating and visionary work, which in the midst of apocalyptic horror confirms the power of art,” the organizers explained the choice.

What is known about the writer and his works?

Laszlo Krasnagorkai was born in Hungary, but he loved to travel and spent a lot of time in other countries – Mongolia, China, Japan, and traveled around Europe and the USA.

He published his first work in 1985. The novel made a considerable impression on the literary community of the time.

In addition, Laszlo Krasnahorka’s creative output includes other successful works, including “Gerst 07769”, “Melancholy of Resistance”, “War and War”, etc. He also wrote film scripts.

The author is currently working on dystopian works – parables about the grotesque existence of people in a world isolated from external connections and devoid of meaningful prospects. He actively collaborates with director Béla Tarr, who has adapted several of his works into films.

Earlier, the Nobel Committee announced the names of the laureates of the Chemistry Prize . They were three prominent scientists: Japanese chemist Susumu Kitagawa, British researcher Richard Robson, and American Omar Yaghi.

As reported, the Nobel Committee announced the winners of the Physics Prize on Tuesday, October 7. This year’s winners are John Clarke, Michel Devoret, and John Martinis. These are three scientists whose experiments laid the foundation for modern quantum technologies.
