During a speech at the UN General Assembly, Bulgarian Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov announced the termination of contracts and the transit of Russian gas in 2026.

This was reported by the Expro publication.

Also, according to him, Bulgaria will completely abandon gas transit from Russia in 2028.

Zhelyazkov said that the country already fully meets its own gas needs by importing through terminals in Greece and Turkey. In addition, Bulgaria has concluded an agreement with the United States for the supply of liquefied natural gas on favorable terms.

At the same time, the official emphasized that Bulgaria does not process Russian oil at the Neftochim refinery.

As noted, Russia transports its gas to Europe through the TurkStream gas pipeline, in particular, transit is carried out to a number of countries, including Hungary and Slovakia.

Previously , European states promised Washington to completely abandon imports of Russian energy resources by the beginning of 2027.

Recall that the European Union is preparing for a complete embargo on Russian gas , which will come into effect at the end of 2027.
